Parmalee and Chris Young Headline 2016 Old Florida Outdoor Festival

Country music stars Parmalee and Chris Young will headline a big weekend of music, fun and food at the 2016 Old Florida Outdoor Festival.

The fifth annual showcase for outdoor recreation and entertainment will be Feb. 12-14 at Apopka’s Northwest Recreation Complex. Activities include concerts with local bands and top country recording artists, one of Florida’s biggest barbecue competitions, a chili cook-off, displays and demonstrations of outdoor sports and recreation, a livestock show, entertainers and a large play area for kids.

Each year the Old Florida Outdoor Festival highlights country music’s best bands and singers – many who are emerging from regional popularity into the national spotlight.

Parmalee is a shining example of country’s young performers with rock ‘n roll influences. Their debut single, “Musta Had a Good Time,” broke this North Carolina group firmly into Top 40 mainstream country radio. Their latest, “Already Callin’ You Mine,” is the fastest rising single in the band’s history.

Parmalee made history when the hit song “Carolina” became the longest climbing single by a duo or group in the 24-year history of the Billboard Country Airplay Chart.  The song also earned platinum status by the Recording Industry Association of America.

The band’s debut country album, Feels Like Carolina, earned critical praise from news media and the music industry. In 2014, Parmalee earned a semi-finalist nod for the Academy of Country Music’s coveted “New Artist of the Year” award and a 2014 Teen Choice Award nomination for “Choice Country Group.”

Parmalee will perform on the Old Florida Outdoor Festival’s outdoor amphitheater stage for one big night. Then country crooner Chris Young will headline for a second night of music.

Young is an accomplished performer with a growing string of hit songs. The Grammy-nominated recording artist produced four big albums with chart toppers “Gettin’ You Home,” “The Man I Want to Be,” “Voices,” “Tomorrow,” “You” and “Who I Am With You.” The song “I’m Comin’ Over” adds to his considerable success with an upcoming fifth album.

Young earned six No. 1 singles and seven gold/platinum certifications through country music radio. He won the British Country Music Award International Act of the Year.

Young won the television singing program “Nashville Star.” He performed on the shows “Good Morning America” and “The Late Show with David Letterman.”

He is well known for his classic baritone and melt-your-heart ballads. He sticks mostly to a traditional country music style, which has earned him a reputation as one of the most reliable hit-makers in the business.
