Cox then burst up the middle for a TD with 32.2 seconds left to cap a nine-play, 68-yard drive. Oviedo’s Nick Carbone, who had 262 yards passing and two TDs and 112 yards rushing and two TDs, had the game’s final TD on a 17-yard run as time expired.

“I felt good about [the last TD run],” Massey said. “It’s a positive win for us.”

Said Apopka coach Rick Darlington: “Those guys [Massey and Cox] came up big for us.”

Apopka, which will play at West Orange next week, is ranked ninth in the Super 16. Oviedo is ranked 14th.
