Learn Bear Safety Tips at Apopka Event

Wildlife and zoo officials will be in Apopka on Jan. 16 to present information about black bear safety.
The program will get started at 1 p.m. at the Apopka Amphitheater at 3710 Jason Dwelley Parkway.
The city of Apopka, Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission and Central Florida Zoo are partnering for the event, which was planned in the wake of bear sightings in the area.
The zoo’s director of education, Stephanie Williams, will talk about bear behavior, how to handle a bear encounter and how to avoid attracting them, according to a city press release. Fish and Wildlife officials will be on hand to answer questions.
