Celebrate the Holiday Season with the 39th Apopka Christmas Parade

An Apopka tradition returns with the 39th annual Apopka Christmas Parade on Saturday, Dec. 12.

This year’s event presented by the Foliage Sertoma Club of Apopka will feature more than 100 entries in a festive pageant of floats, vehicles, musicians and displays themed “Christmas Bells are Ringing.” The parade begins at 10 a.m. The route runs up Park Avenue from Third Street to Votaw Road in downtown Apopka.

Five marching bands will represent Apopka, Wekiva, Ocoee, Evans and Jones high schools. Principals and the homecoming kings and queens from Wekiva and Apopka also will attend. See the Bahia Shriners, the Mid-Florida Mustang Club, Miss Apopka, Santa Claus and more.

Among the elected officials will be Apopka mayor and city council members, Orange County Commissioner Bryan Nelson, Orange County Public Schools Board Member Christine Moore and Superintendent Barbara Jenkins and Orange County Property Appraiser Rick Singh.

The parade will be broadcast this year on the radio at WBZW 1520 AM.

Parts of Park Avenue along the parade route will be closed around 8 a.m., Dec. 12. Parking is available along adjacent streets. Edwards Field – located east of Kit Land Nelson Park – will be closed to stage parade entries.
