Apopka to Award Prizes Wednesday to Visioning Survey Participants

The City of Apopka on Wednesday will award prizes for randomly selected residents who submitted surveys in the Visioning Apopka community planning program.

The prize drawing attended by Apopka Mayor Joe Kilsheimer and city commissioners will be at 1 p.m. in the City Council Chambers at City Hall, 120 E. Main St. in Apopka. Five survey participants will be picked at random to receive $50 gift cards for area stores.

Residents and business representatives submitted more than 1,100 completed surveys through the Visioning Apopka website, community meetings and other sources. Input from the surveys and meetings will be utilized to develop a ten-year plan for community improvements in Apopka. The Apopka City Council will have two upcoming meetings to review public recommendations before a final report is submitted.

Visioning is an important tool for Apopka – a city of 45,000 residents across 35 square miles of northwest Orange County – to develop plans for future growth. The process is increasingly popular among all types of government to create consensus for what the public wants and – just as important – determine what is needed to achieve those goals.
