Apopka Public Safety Day: May 30th

Bring the family for a fun-filled experience with Apopka’s police, fire and medical services on May 30.

Public Safety Day, sponsored by Florida Hospital Apopka, will feature police SWAT and canine demonstrations, a fire department mock vehicle extrication, a variety of emergency vehicles and medical helicopters. Activities run from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Northwest Recreation Complex, 3710 Jason Dwelley Parkway.

Check out displays and games. Join a bicycle safety seminar, or try on fire gear and a SWAT suit. Practice with a fire hose. Get finger-printed. See Sparky the Fire Dog and McGruff the Crime Dog. Enjoy food trucks and music from DJ Ralo Flores.

A cornhole bean-bag toss tournament will benefit the Children’s Advocacy Center for abused and neglected children. To register, visit www.caccentral.com.

Get up close with fire trucks, police cars, crime-scene van and mobile command unit. Florida Hospital will present helicopters, and Central Florida Crimeline will have a vehicle.
