The Haiku and Spoken Word Challenge
West Oaks Branch
Saturday, April 5, 11am
Elizabeth Bellinger, author of The Kaleidoscope Anthology will be at the library and available to help you with your own poetry writing. Attendees are encouraged to bring their best haikus and enjoy spoken word from local poets.

Shakespeare Movie Mondays
Orlando Public Library, Library Central
Mondays April 7, 4, 21 5:30pm
In honor of William Shakespeare’s 450th birthday we will be showing a movie base on his work every Monday in the month of April.

Poetry and Fiction Reading with Cecelia Rodriguez Milanes
Southeast Branch
Monday April 7, 6pm
Cecelia Rodriguez Milanes will present a reading of poetry and fiction including a new selected works. She is a writer who teaches at the University of Central Florida. Her work reflects the lives of Latinos living in the US including themes such as immigration, assimilation, race and gender issues.

Second Saturday: Local Poet Showcase
Orlando Public Library, Library Central
Saturday, April 12, 2pm
Celebrate National Poetry Month at your local library by attending the local poet showcase. Hear readings from J. Bradley, Teresa Edmond, Peter Gordon, Leslie C Halpren, Carlton Johnson, Oral Nussbaum, Terry Ann Thaxton and Chaz Yorick. Poets will be available for questions and book signing afterward.

Creative Writing: Short Stories
West Oaks Branch
Saturday, April 19, 11am
Elizabeth Bellinger, author of The Kaleidoscope Anthology will be at the library and available to help you with your own writing, including short story writing, character development and dialogue. Learn about using visual prompts to spark creativity and overcome writer’s block.
