Apopka, Mainland to host nationally ranked American Heritage in High School Football

Plantation American Heritage, which ran roughshod over Class 5A football competition last season, will bring its stockpile of talent into the Sentinel’s coverage area twice this fall.

The Stallions, No. 6 in MaxPreps’ preseason national rankings, will play at Daytona Beach Mainland on Sept. 26 and at Apopka on Oct. 17.

Apopka, which was 26-4 over the past two seasons with a 2012 Class 8A state championship, had to scramble to fill a spot in year two of a scheduling cycle after going to Duncan, S.C., Byrnes for a national TV game last season. That was Apopka’s only regular-season loss in a 13-2 state runner-up campaign.
