Apopka chamber names new president

story from Orlando Sentinel

The Apopka Area Chamber of Commerce has a new chief officer: Laura Heiselman has been named president and began her official duties with the chamber on Oct. 13.

Heiselman replaces Paul Seago, who resigned as president in July to become the executive director of No Casinos, a Florida-based organization that opposes the expansion of gambling in Florida.

One of Heiselman’s primary responsibilities will be membership, which has been steadily increasing over the past few years. Heiselman comes to the Apopka chamber after serving as the government affairs director for the Florida Apartment Association and the director of development for United Arts of Central Florida.

“Laura is an accomplished professional whose nonprofit and membership organization experience will be a tremendous asset for our chamber,” said Heather Baker, chairman of the board. “We are looking forward to her leadership.”
