Lake Brantley Alum Comes Home to play with Rays

When the Tigers acquired long time Rays pitcher David Price at the trade deadline two days ago in a three team deal, the Mariners sent infielder Nick Franklin to Tampa Bay as part of the deal.

The 23 year old Franklin was drafted out of Lake Brantley HS in Altamonte Springs, FL in the 1st round (27th overall) of the 2009 MLB June Amateur Draft. Franklin was born in Sanford, FL.

Franklin batted .225 with 12 HR and 45 RBI in 102 games for Seatle in 2013. This year, he had appeared in 17 games and is batting .128.

In the trade, the Rays also recieved lefty Drew Smyly and Class A shortstop Willy Adames.
