Community Library Children Events


Teaching your children to love reading and learning always begins with your local library. Take advantage of your local library branch with your children this summer and have some fun and entertainment at one of these events.

At the Orlando Branch there are a few exciting themed days for the kids.

SRP: Life of a Firefighter

Orlando Public Library, Library Central

Tuesday, July 30, 11:00 a.m.

Meet real firefighters and find out what it takes to fight the heat. Presented by the Orlando Fire Department, Orange County Fire Rescue, Winter Garden Fire Rescue, and Maitland Fire Rescue. Ages 6-12.


SRP: I Dig Cartoons

Orlando Public Library, Children’s Department

Saturday, August 3, 3:00 p.m.

Dig into your favorite animated adventures with library fun just for cartoon kids! Join in on some looney fun, stories, activities and crafts! Ages 6-12.


At the North Orange Branch there are summer fun themed days as well.

SRP: The Magical Jerry Darkey

Thursday, August 1, 11:00 a.m.

Abracadabra! Alacazam! Magician Jerry Darkey will amaze and inspire you as he takes us on a miraculous and mystifying journey. Ages 6-12.


SRP: Meet a Gatorland Wrangler

North Orange Branch

Thursday, August 8, 11:00 a.m.

Gatorland brings the wild to the library! Get up close and personal with snakes and gators and learn all about these amazing creatures.
